Come on down to the wharf at Lake Union Park! Take a break from work, get some fresh air and enjoy one of the best views of the Blue Angels from the Decks of the Virginia V at South Lake Union Thursday, August 4th This week at Farmboat’s floating market you’ll enjoy a great assortment of fruit and veggies from Marshland Orchards and West Seattle Produce, including beets, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, kale, lettuce, turnips, radishes, rutabagas and more.
Summer veggie hint: For something different, try rutubaga fries — peel rutabagas, cut into julienne strips, coat with olive oil, (from our vendor, Eleven Olives) add a smidgeon of salt and pepper and bake at 425 degrees for about 30-40 minutes. You’ll be surprised how similar the taste to french fries, yet rutabagas are much more nutritious for you. In fact they have about 42% of the daily recommended serving requirement for Vitamin C.
Hungry for lunch? Enjoy some delicious lunchtime fare from Nollies, who will be offering soups, salads, pasties and a selection of pastries made with local ingredients. Hart coffee will also be on hand for sampling organic coffee and teas. Sample and learn about the amazing balsamics and infused Olive Oils from 11 Olive. Additionally, this week you can meet Gloria with LolaBella Creations. She is offering hand-made hair accessories and other gift items.
Whatever your plans are for dinner that include locally grown produce, you’ll be sure to find fresh items on hand at Farmboat’s floating market from 11:00 am – 3 pm.
